Jamie + Katherine

A friend of a feather flock together is a true statement for friendship, but also for romantic relationships—including Jamie and Katherine’s. Jamie and Katherine’s close circle of friends is how these two love birds met. The group of friends would hangout together and in those moments, Jamie and Katherine began to develop their own personal friendship. Their bond escalated from friendship to romance with the ultimate ending—a hand in marriage.

Jamie and Katherine’s forever began September 24, 2016 at beautiful Park Tavern. The weather was picturesque with the sun beaming and not a cloud in sight. Park Tavern is a restaurant located on the corner of Piedmont Park. The restaurant doubles as a perfect setting for a wedding with its open and spacious white tent and intimate lawn area for the ceremony to take place.

The ambiance and decorations for the wedding was out of a lavish fairytale movie—every bride’s dream. The reception tables were draped with crisp white linens, with two designs for the guest tables: golden goblets that sparkled from the tea light candles within and lavish white bouquet of flowers designed by Unique Floral Expressions. The black and white checkerboard dance floor was a great detail to compliment the gold and white theme. And to top off the whimsical setting, there were white lanterns delicately hanging from the ceiling in symmetrical lines with a golden chandelier in the middle. Jamie and Katherine’s wedding exuded sophistication and romance.

Guests began to arrive and make their way to their seats. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by two decadent white bouquets that stood atop a wooden case. Flower petals covered the grass aisle, and the white flowers entangled on the wooden cross was a loving sight to witness. Perhaps what gave the ceremony another touch of beauty, was the gorgeous Willow tree in the background.

The ceremony was a short and sweet testament to Katherine and Jamie’s admiration for each other. The extra sentiment to the ceremony was the bonus of Katherine’s sister, Sarah, as the officiant. She gave the traditional blessing of the vows and included a romantic quote by John Lennon: “A dream you dream alone is only a dream, but a dream you dream together is reality.” With tears filled in everyone’s eyes, the happy couple kissed and was pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Phillips.

Cocktail hour began after the ceremony and guests enjoyed sipping cocktails provided by the open bar, played cornhole on Georgia Bulldogs theme boards and took pictures with Taylor Swift and Brad Pitt in the photo booth, provided by Famous Russell; entertainment was in full swing.

After a joyful cocktail hour, guests began to make their way to their seats for the reception. Katherine and Jamie’s first dance was to a tender country love song. It was as if they were the only two in the room as they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes; he held her tight and she didn’t let go.

The delicious and lavish three course meal was catered by Park Tavern that included—mozzarella wrapped prosciutto salad, filet mignon, pan-seared chicken breast and French vanilla cake from Cakes by Anna.

After guests dined on their fulfilling meals, the floor was opened to speeches. Katherine’s dad gave a humorous speech about her always wanting to live next to Interstate 75 and her love for dogs, while her sister gave a heartfelt speech that included sentiments of them growing up and how their men balance them out.

When the speeches concluded, the dance floor opened up and guests danced the night away, mingling and laughing.

We had so much fun helping plan Katherine and Jamie’s wedding. Thank you for trusting us with your vision. We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

To Up Do or Not Up Do

As you scan the internet and magazines for your perfect hairstyle on your big day, you’re faced with many choices: updo, half-up/half-down, curls, a bun and more. We want our brides to look and feel their best, as they get ready to say “I do,” so we compiled a list of different hair style inspirations for long and short hair to help you choose. As a bonus, we also have an insightful interview from Christine Pay, owner and artist of Brushworx, one of our preferred vendors who gives her advice on wedding day hair.

Q & A with  Christine Pay: Brushworx

RNW: What are some tips brides can use to prepare their hair before being styled for their wedding day?

CP: A few months before it's a good idea to start focusing on hair condition. Make sure you are using good shampoo and conditioner and getting regular trims. Have your color touched up about one week before the wedding, so that you don't have any regrowth . On the wedding day, wash and condition your hair. Be sure your conditioner does not contain any silicone products; that can make it difficult to hold a curl. Also, do not flat iron it if you want a style with curl or body.

RNW: How long should brides and bridal parties expect for hair to be completed from beginning to end?

CP: It takes about thirty to forty-five minutes for each service on bridesmaids. Example- hair and makeup would be 1 - 1/2 hours. Brides are usually given one hour per service but can be done in forty-five minutes if needed. We like to add extra time so that everything is perfect and the bride feels pampered!

RNW: Your company has several members on its team. How does the selection process work for brides to select their hair stylists?

CP: We speak with each bride to get to know her and her unique likes and needs. Then we place her with the artist that will be her best fit for both style and personality.

RNW: Does the stylist do both hair and makeup?

CP: Yes, all of our 14 artists do both hair and makeup.

RNW: What are some of the latest hair trends, short and long hair, brides want for their wedding day?

CP: The softer, undone styles and Hollywood waves continue to be popular, but lately we are seeing a return to classic glamour reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn.

RNW: Lastly, what would you like our readers to know about Brushworx?

CP: That when our brides or clients come to us it's all about You! We know that every ones needs, likes and concerns are different and we treat each person with the utmost respect and always listen. We strive to bring our professionalism and friendliness into everything we do.
